FYI - it APPEARS to be true! If you go their 'homepage' listed above (ie; the "most viewed" page) and then look on the left sidebar for 'statistics' and go there, the above stats are right there -- no digging even! Unless the people at The Onion are working overtime, it certainly looks legit.
Interesting how -- in spite of all the 'heavy' topics they list on their homepage (ie; Following is their list:
